Earth Day is here and we firstly want to thank you for sharing it with Emyze! In keeping with the spirit of reflecting on our actions, we’ve decided to share a little bit more about our team members, our current projects and our goals for the future (and how you could play a role in those!).
The Emyze team is a small but very international group (11 people across 5 nationalities), bound together by a sincere focus on climate action. Like many other Berlin start-ups, nobody performs just one role, and so a good team dynamic has been critical to ensure everything keeps running smoothly.
We’re dedicating a lot of our engineering and design capacity to some important initiatives which should greatly extend the functionality and utility of Emyze. These are:
Because it’s no secret that the buildings we live in are responsible for a huge chunk of global emissions (rising energy costs certainly don’t make the situation any brighter), we’ve spent a lot of time working on a home energy module, which aims to help users understand the emissions behind day-to-day running of our households. We’re aiming to fold this into our existing app as an intuitive energy efficiency guide which should help homes become more energy efficient, and - bonus! - save money in the process.
We’re also investigating functionality to connect employees and employers on the topic of sustainability. For many job seekers, the green credentials of potential employers really matter (as they should), and business are aware of the need for engagement with their staff on environmental topics such as emissions. Embedding climate action and sustainability into organisational culture results in enterprises increasing their climate impact, while engaging their workforce in purposeful activities with an environmental cause.
Time is a scarce resource for most of us as it is, and we know that logging each and every one of our daily CO₂e emissions can sometimes be a lot to ask. So we’re looking at various ways to make this easier, faster and more effective for our users, without sacrificing the granularity and detail that we think is so important.
Any app developer worth their salt will tell you that great ideas come from users themselves. And this means that we’d love your help in making Emyze the most effective climate action app it can be. What do you want to see more of? Less of? What features do you think we’re missing, and what type of functionality or content would make a real difference to you on your path towards sustainability? Drop us a mail at [email protected] - we read each and every piece of feedback that we get.
Happy Earth Week!
